Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A case of self-staged kidnapping was reported in Bihar’s Jehanabad district, where a student allegedly faked his own abduction after being unable to marry his girlfriend due to caste differences. The incident occurred under the Ghosi police station area and led to an FIR and judicial action against the youth.
The boy and the girl, both intermediate students from the same village, had developed a relationship while studying at a nearby coaching centre. When the boy expressed his wish to marry the girl, their families reportedly rejected the proposal citing caste-related reasons. On June 17, the boy went missing from home, prompting his family to start searching for him.
After failing to locate him, the boy’s mother filed a kidnapping complaint at Ghosi police station. Meanwhile, the girl received a phone call from an unknown number in which the caller, claiming to be a kidnapper, demanded ₹2 lakh in ransom for the youth's release. The girl informed her family, who relayed the information to the youth's family and the police.
Police began technical surveillance and traced the location of the mobile number used in the ransom call. On June 20, the youth was found in Gaya district. During questioning, it was revealed that he had fabricated the entire kidnapping story himself. Superintendent of Police Vineet Kumar issued a statement confirming that the youth had planned the false abduction due to his inability to marry and lack of financial resources.
An FIR was registered against the youth under Case No. 96/25 dated June 20, 2025, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. After interrogation, he was produced before a court and sent to judicial custody. The youth’s father, Kamlesh Yadav, maintained that his son had indeed been kidnapped. However, the police stated that evidence pointed to a planned and executed fake abduction. The boy’s mother, who had filed the original complaint, is now seeking legal remedies to secure his release.
